This is the image for the news article titled Students Participate in Therapeutic Horseback RidingTen IEP students in grades 1-4 are participating in therapeutic riding and other Equine Assisted Activities and Therapies through Charleston Area Therapeutic Riding (CART) at Brickhouse Equestrian Center on John's Island. CART improves the lives of children and adults with disabilities at the area's oldest nationally accredited therapeutic horseback riding center.  By moving the rider's body in a manner similar to a human gait, therapeutic riding helps individuals with a wide range of disabilities gain strength, balance, and confidence. Riding and interacting with horses is also fun, motivating and empowering, which promotes social, communicative and cognitive progress.
