The Green Heart Project is a community-based volunteer organization that integrates school farms as outdoor classrooms in an effort to teach students the virtues of hard work, respect and success and reiterate classroom curriculum while connecting students and volunteers to fresh, healthy, locally-grown produce.
The Green Heart Project began at Mitchell in 2009. The volunteers began working with students in the 3rd grade. As of today, the program has grown to include lessons that span from Kindergarten to 6th grade.
